Scrub-A-Dub Dub, Coffee In The Tub?
No, I don’t mean taking a steaming mug of the black brew with you and sipping on it while you soak in the tub. What I am referring to is the latest fad in body scrubs and exfoliants-coffee. Who would have thought that the grounds leftover after brewing a pot would be good for something? The ancient Egyptians are thought to be the people who began the practice of exfoliation. Exfoliation consists of removing the... (posted by Terri 1 year 132 days ago.)

Anise and Star Anise-Do You Know The Difference?
WOW! Thanksgiving is over and it is less than four weeks until Christmas! I really need to get moving and finish the Christmas shopping, since half of the gifts need to be shipped out of state. Signs of the season are everywhere-at the mall, decorations on private residences, town streets and grocery stores. Archway already has its seasonal cookies out. I really love the pfeffernusse cookies with their... (posted by Terri 1 year 177 days ago.)

Autumn Notes
I was raking leaves this afternoon and even though it is mid-November I realized that there were quite a few flowers still blooming. I cut the last two roses from the bush and picked some mums and brought them inside. I have alyssum, petunias, sedum and a huge-flowered sunflower remaining outside-all in full bloom. Though most autumn flowers don't have a scent (or a nice scent), they do have something to "say". As most of you know, the... (posted by Terri 1 year 192 days ago.)

Amazing Autumn Aromas
Summer has definitely passed us by; the temperatures are cooler, the days are shorter and school is in full swing. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. The days are sunny, pleasant and mild-not too hot and not too cold. Exceptions are rainy days, of course! The best part of autumn is the changing leaf color-absolutely stunning! I love the red and gold leaves mixed in with the green and yellow; Mother... (posted by Terri 1 year 229 days ago.)

Babies, Children and Essential Oils
I have been thinking a lot about babies lately. My third grandchild will be here in about two to three weeks, and I can't wait! The other two grandchildren are also excited to have a little brother or sister arriving soon. Thinking about having a new little one around means schedule changes, sleepless nights, laughter, joy, and of course crying, since that is the only way a newborn can communicate that something is... The Abc’s of Producing Essential Oils
An essential oil by definition is a concentrated, hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants. A hydrophobe is a molecule that is repelled from a mass of water. Other names for essential oils are volatile oils, ethereal oils, and aetherola; a very simplified definition is the oil of the plant from which it was extracted. Essential means that the oil carries a very distinctive scent of the plant... (posted by Terri 1 year 258 days ago.)
